Crusaders Policy

CRUSADERS CRICKET AUSTRALIA INC. recognises the importance of creating a safe and welcoming environment and the adoption of policies such as this is a vital step in doing just that. We are confident that we shall continue to provide a sustainable environment that develops not only great cricketers, but great people too. In particular, the following points….

● Respect the rights, dignity and worth of others.

● Be fair, considerate and honest in all dealings with others.

● Be professional in, and accept responsibility for your actions.

● Operate within the rules of the sport including state guidelines which govern CV Organisations.

● Not using your involvement with the Crusaders to promote your own beliefs, behaviours or practices where these are inconsistent with those of the organisation.

● Demonstrate a high degree of individual responsibility especially when dealing with persons under 18 years of age, as your words and actions are an example.

● Avoid unaccompanied and unobserved activities with persons under 18 years of age, wherever possible.

● Refrain from any behaviour that may bring the sport of cricket or a CV Organisation into disrepute.

● Provide a safe environment for the conduct of the activity.

● Show concern and caution towards others who may be sick or injured.

● Be a positive role model.

● Act at all times to protect and promote the sport of cricket in accordance with the Spirit of Cricket.

Accordingly, the following policy shall apply to all members, administrators, officials, coaches, players, spectators, visitors and other volunteers and/or or staff of the organisation.

Social Media

Social media is a broad and changing concept. It generally refers to interactive electronic forums or online media where people are communicating, posting participating, sharing, networking or bookmarking. For the purposes of this by-law, social media extends to:

● electronically communicated material, whether written, photographic, video, or audio, which is accessible by more than the member alone;

● Facebook, YouTube, twitter, MySpace, LinkedIn, Wikipedia, Flickr and related domains;

● Blogs; social networking sites; instant messaging; social bookmarking, media sharing and collaborative editing websites;

● Any other forum which might reasonably be classified as social media as that term is generally understood; and

● Any other forum for public comment

The organisation will maintain, or allow to be maintained

● A Public Facebook page

● Secret or Closed Facebook groups to allow the coordination of teams and training

● A Twitter account for the reporting of scores, following only other clubs or Cricket organisations

● An email account managed by the Administration Manager

● Website implemented through the Mycricket application managed by the IT Administrator

● Any other Social media platforms the Committee deems fit

When using social media, a person must not:

● Abuse others or expose others to content that is offensive, inappropriate or for an illegal purpose;

● Impersonate or falsely represent any other person, including the organisation or another member;

● Abuse, harass or threaten any other person, including the organisation or another member;

● Make defamatory or libelous comments;

●Use obscene, offensive, insulting, provocative or hateful language;

● Post material that infringes the intellectual property rights of others;

● Intrude upon the privacy of other members of the organisation without the consent of such members;

● Interfere with the conduct of any event run by the organisation or with the role and responsibilities of Cricket Victoria as the peak body for the sport of cricket in Victoria;

● Violate security measures instituted at any facility of the organisation;

● Comment in a way that may be construed as harming the reputation of him or herself, another member, or the organisation, including its sponsors and stakeholders;

● Flame, ie harass, insult, defame, belittle, threaten, antagonise, or attack other members, guests, or websites.

● Troll by making a comment intended to antagonize another person or provoke another member into an argument or flame war by means of flaming the member, or making a post when the member knows full-well that it will cause an argument or flame war.

Racial and Religious Harassment

CRUSADERS CRICKET AUSTRALIA INC. is strongly committed to ensuring that all officials and members, umpires and other representatives are able to participate in cricket in an environment free of racial and religious harassment.

Racial harassment at any level of our cricket, both on and off the field of play, will not be tolerated under any circumstances. Officials and members have a responsibility to create and maintain a playing environment in which participants feel comfortable and where people respect and tolerate the rights, views and opinions of others.

Individuals who experience racial or religious harassment are entitled to the support of the Executive Committee, other officials and representatives of the organisation and members. All complaints of such harassment will be treated seriously and will be investigated promptly and tactfully, including action being taken to ensure that the harassment stops. The organisation will also take action to ensure that any person who lodges a complaint or who assists the investigation of a complaint is not victimised or disadvantaged in any way. Where such a situation occurs, the individual found to be in breach of this policy will be required to appear before the Executive Committee to provide an explanation, and appropriate disciplinary action will be taken against any person or organisation deemed to have breached the policy. Where it is found that the harassment alleged did not occur, all necessary action will be taken to ensure that the reputation of the accused person/s or organisation is not affected or impugned. Furthermore, any individual who deliberately fabricates or falsifies a complaint or falsely supports such a complaint of harassment will be required to appear before the Executive Committee to provide an explanation, and if proven, subject to appropriate disciplinary action. Any person who falsely lays a complaint should also be aware that the accused person/s or organisation has the right to pursue legal action for defamation.

On-field

CRUSADERS CRICKET AUSTRALIA INC. supports and endorses the policies of Cricket Victoria and Cricket Australia. It will co-operate fully in any investigation. Further where the matter is intraclub in nature it will follow the same procedure and may call on Cricket Victoria for support.

Non-compliance

All CRUSADERS CRICKET AUSTRALIA INC. committee members with the assistance of leaders will enforce the Code of Conduct policy and any non-compliance will be handled according to the following process:

● Explanation of the organisation policy to the person/people concerned

● Continued non-compliance with the policy should be handled by at least two committee members who will use their discretion as to the action taken, which may include asking the person/people to leave the organisations facilities or function.

● This policy forms part of the Purpose of the organisation as per the organisations rules. Breaches of this policy may be subjected to Disciplinary Action

● Any members that have been suspended or expelled from the organisation due to the result of Disciplinary Action shall not be permitted to attend any CRUSADERS CRICKET AUSTRALIA INC. Headquarters, cricket ground affiliated with the Crusaders, functions, meetings, tours, training sessions and games directly involving the Crusaders for the duration of their suspension or expulsion.

Policy Promotion

The club will promote the Code of Conduct policy regularly by:

● Putting a copy of the policy on the website.

CRUSADERS CRICKET AUSTRALIA INC. recognises the importance of educating members, particularly players, of the benefits of a code of conduct and will endeavour to provide information to assist this process.

Policy Review

This policy will be reviewed annually to ensure it remains relevant to club operations and reflects both community expectations and legal requirements.
